Carbon Steel Fasteners

Aztec International offers different types of self-drilling and self-tapping carbon steel screws. The screws are made of 1022 low carbon steel and are case hardened by carburisation process. We offer fasteners with different types of head (e.g. hexagonal,  truss, oval or pan head) with different types of recess like Phillips, T20, T25 and TORX® ttap®.

Carbon steel is a popular material for fasteners due to its good tensile strength and ability to bear loads. It can be heat-treated, easily modifying it’s mechanical properties. It is easy to machine and can meet the tight tolerances required in fastener construction. All of our fasteners are protected against corrosion. Available coatings are zinc or zinc-nickel. 

Carbon steel is categorized by the amount of carbon in the alloy, which impacts the properties of the steel.

Low carbon steel, with 0.05-0.3% carbon, is ductile and malleable. It has low tensile strength and can be hardened through carbonizing. It is the least expense of the carbon steel alloys.

Medium carbon steel has 0.3-0.59% carbon, which provides the alloy with increased strength and good wear resistance. It is easy to machine and is used for forged parts and in automotive industry.

High carbon steel is very strong and is used for springs and high-strength products. These alloys can be tempered to very high hardness, and are used for high wear applications. These alloys have carbon content from 0.6-0.99% for high carbon steel and 1.0-2.0% for ultra-high carbon steel.

         Our fasteners can be powder coated in any colour.

GA2-4,8 X L are hexagonal head carbon steel stitcher screws made out of case hardened, zinc-plated 1022 carbon steel. These screws are used for fastening two thin, overlapping metal sheets together with or without a bonded washer. Non-threaded part under the head provides secure side lap stitching of the sheets and prevents stripping of the screw and a destruction of the sealing washer or joined elements.

FS-4,8 X L WING are hexagonal head self-drilling screws made out of case hardened, zinc plated 1022 carbon steel. In normal operating conditions there are many forces acting on the sheeting. Wings are used to ream a bigger hole in the sheet material and prevent excessive stress at the place of fixing that could cause damage to the sheet. These screws can be used to fix sheets made out either thin metal of softer materials to timber supporting structures.
